Job Training for Youth (Special Education Support)

Youth/Transition and Vocational Rehabilitation Training:


Empowering the Next Generation

We understand that the transition from school to adulthood can be a challenging time, especially for young people with disabilities. Our Youth/Transition and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) training programs are designed to provide the support, skills, and resources needed to navigate this transition successfully and achieve long-term employment success.

Key Components of Our Programs


Personal Social Adjustment: We recognize that success in the workplace goes beyond technical skills. Our programs also focus on developing the personal and social skills that are crucial for building positive relationships, navigating workplace dynamics, and maintaining emotional well-being. This includes:

  • Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem Building: Develop a strong sense of >self-worth and belief in your abilities.
  • Stress Management and Coping Strategies: Learn effective techniques for managing stress, overcoming challenges, and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Conflict Resolution and Problem-Solving: Acquire the skills to resolve conflicts constructively and and effective solutions to the workplace challenges.

Working Directly with High Schools and ISD’s Special Education and Disabled Youth Staff:

We believe that early intervention and preparation are essential for ensuring successful transitions to adulthood for students with disabilities. We work directly with high schools and Independent School Districts (ISDs) to provide on-site training and support for students who are soon to transition into adulthood.

Our Services for High Schools and ISDs:

On-Site Training: We provide customized training programs for students with disabilities on a variety of topics, including:
  • Job readiness skills.
  • Self-advocacy and independence.
  • Post-secondary education and training options.
  • Career exploration and planning.

Collaboration with School Staff: We work closely with special education and disabled youth staff to:

  • Develop and implement transition plans.
  • Provide professional development and training.
  • Coordinate services and resources.
Parent and Family Engagement: We offer workshops and resources to help parents and families support their children’s transition to adulthood and employment.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS):

Pre-ETS are a set of services designed to help students with disabilities, typically ages 14-22, explore career options, develop workplace readiness skills, and prepare for post-secondary education or training. Our Pre-ETS programs include:

  • Job Exploration Counseling: Guidance and support in exploring different career paths, identifying interests and strengths, and setting career goals.
  • Work-Based Learning Experiences: Opportunities to gain hands-on experience through internships, job shadowing, and other work-based learning activities.
  • Counseling on Post-Secondary Education: Information and support on exploring post-secondary education and training options, including college, vocational schools, and technical programs.
  • Workplace Readiness Training: Instruction in essential workplace skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, and self-advocacy.
  • Instruction in Self-Advocacy: Empowering individuals to understand their rights, express their needs, and advocate for themselves in the workplace. 

Job Coaching:

Our experienced job coaches provide individualized support and guidance to help individuals with disabilities succeed in their jobs. Job coaching services may include:

  • On-site job training and support.
  • Assistance with learning job tasks and routines.
  • Strategies for managing workplace challenges.
  • Ongoing support to ensure long-term job retention.
